The Inn was originally built in around 1750 with traditional Georgian construction of solid brickwork, timber framed floors and a pitched tiled roof.
The pub has always been a Coaching Inn since its foundation. Our function room “The Hop House” in our garden was formerly a set of horses’ stables.
Although it’s hard to imagine it today, the long and narrow high street which the town of Eton is built formed the main road from London to Windsor for nearly 800 years.
In 2015, the directors of Windsor & Eton Brewery bought The George to continue making beer Windsor’s biggest attraction.
At the corner of the high street facing the bridge with stunning views of the castle, The George was the perfect opportunity. With a new vision and a great passion, they built a new “local” pub for all who walk through the doors.
Now, on the foundations of our hardworking and dedicated team, the pub continues to welcome regulars and visitors alike.
Not only serving our love for beer, we offer seasonal menus, a wide variety of events, and cosy accommodation all a stone’s throw from the town centre. We pride ourselves on providing the best experiences in a comfortable environment that you can always call your local.
